Pershore Plum Festival – now!

News came today of this year’s Pershore Plum Festival which will feature the largest selection of plum varieties in its five-year history, including Victoria Plums, Pershore Purple Plums, Pershore Yellow Egg Plums and Czar Plums.

The Plum Fayre was resurrected in 1996 by David Shaw, a local environmentalist and local historian Marion Freeman, to help raise the awareness and profile of the market town of Pershore and its association with plums.

The festival, which runs from 29 July to 29 August, owes a lot to the bad weather according to organisers. Persistent rain has slowed the ripening process down by several weeks so the plums will be in prime condition.
